Vivekananda had said in the 'Religion Parliament': India should not have religion
But Swami Vivekananda had said many such things in his historical address, which are often needed to be remembered.
All religions lead to the same God
Swami Vivekananda, standing on the American soil, introduced the world to the tradition of Indian spirituality and philosophy, in which all religions have been considered as a way to reach the same God. In his first speech, he said:
Brothers and sisters, I will tell you about some lines of that verse, which I have repeatedly repeated from my childhood days and which is repeated by millions of people every day. In the same way, the water of different streams coming out from different places becomes one in the sea, in the same way, people with different tendencies go on straight paths or crooked paths and achieve the same God. .
In his speech Swami Vivekananda also mentioned the Gita's Krishna-Arjun dialogue to reach the message of the basic unity of all religions:
This conference is the victory of that great principle of the Gita in its own right, its global declaration, in which Lord Krishna has said: In whatever form a devotee takes my devotion, I accept his devotion in the same form. Man tries to reach me with different routes and all the paths come to me only after all.

The words that Swami Vivekananda concluded with this speech, are still equally relevant and touching the heart, as many hundred years ago:
Sectarianism, fanaticism and the dangerous puzzling thinking that arose from it have long held the possession of this beautiful land. These evils have filled the entire world with violence, have repeatedly destroyed humanity with the blood of human beings, have destroyed civilizations and have been working to push the whole nations into the trunk of waste. If these devious monsters of evils were not present, then the human society would have been much more developed than today. But now the time of these evils has been completed, and I have full faith that in the morning of this conference the bell rang, all the frenzied fanaticism, the harassment of the sword and words, and the different ways Only those who try to reach the goal will prove to be a death bell to eliminate the spirit of mutual animosity.
The speech given by Swami Vivekananda in Chicago's World Religions Parliament is very famous. But he did not give only one speech in that religion parliament. During 11th to 27th September 1893, Swami Vivekananda addressed the Parliament 6 times in total.
