Fodder scam: Laloo Prasad Yadav gets relief from court, till Aug 14
Significantly, Lalu Prasad is serving a jail sentence in all three cases, including the Devgarh treasury of the Yadav Charas scam. In its order, the court said that for the health reasons, the period of bail of Lalu Yadav is being extended for six weeks. The next hearing in this case will be on August 10.
According to sources, the bench of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh accepted the plea of senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi that now it is time that Laloo Yadav needs time to get proper treatment. During the hearing in the court, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that Lalu Yadav has to do a surgery a few days later.
Therefore, their bail period should be increased. Only after this plea did the court increase the bail period of Lalu Yadav for six weeks. However, the CBI counsel, Rajeev Sinha, opposed the plea of Lalu's lawyer saying that all their diseases are treated at the Rims Hospital in Ranchi.
It is noteworthy that on June 22, Lalu Yadav was granted interim bail till July 3. The court has fixed August 10 for next hearing. Earlier, the Jharkhand High Court, hearing the interim petition filed for treatment of Lalu Prasad, had granted interim bail for six weeks on May 11, whose term expired on June 27.
Judge DN Patel, hearing of the case, stayed on leave on June 22 of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh. During that time, he had extended the period of interim bail to Lalu's lawyers till July 3 that he had to undergo treatment for many diseases.
Significantly, Lalu Yadav had gone to Mumbai for treatment a few days back. After treatment of heart and kidney disease, he returned to Mumbai from Mumbai. During that time, a large number of RJD activists welcomed him at the Patna airport.
Lalu Yadav walked out of the airport on the wheelchair and then went straight to his living on his vehicle. During that time, he did not talk to journalists. After returning with him, his daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti had told reporters that the health of her father has not been completely cured.
