Protest against changing the 65-year-old tradition of film award
Delhi: Only 11 of the 140 selected artists for the National Film Awards will be honored by the President this time. Reminders will be given to Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani to the rest. So far, there has been a tradition of honoring all the artists by the President. In this case, more than 60 awardees have threatened to boycott the program which will be held on Thursday in Vigyan Bhawan.
Artists wrote letters to the President- Unhappy artists have written a letter to the President's Office,
Directorate of Film Festival and the Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting.- They say that they were told about the replacement system at last time. This decision is going to ruin.
It's like betrayal- Artists wrote in the letter, "It is like betraying that an institution which adheres to the strict protocol, there is a change in the program without informing it. It is unfortunate that the tradition of 65 years is being changed in one stroke . "At the same time, Marathi film director Prakash Oak, who got respect, said, "We are feeling humiliated. 75 people who have won the award have threatened to boycott the ceremony."
President of the Rashtrapati Bhavan- Rashtrapati Bhavan has issued a statement on the announcement of boycott of the festival in the last minute by the artists. It states that the President stops at any event for more than one hour. This protocol has been held since assuming office and the information and broadcasting ministry was informed about it several weeks ago.
Function is kept in 2 steps- This year the National Film Awards will be held in two phases. The first phase will commence from 4 pm and will be given to the information and broadcasting minister Smriti Irani and State Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore for the winners.- The second phase will start from 5:30 in the evening and in this, President Ramnath Kovind will honor the artists.
Smriti Irani trusts to answer the letter given
- Artists said they discussed this issue with Smriti Irani. They have assured to answer the letter. The artists will not have any choice but to leave the ceremony if they do not get the answer.
